Ali Yaycıoğlu, a faculty member in the History Department at Stanford University, also continues his painting endeavors titled “Critical Imagination” in San Francisco and under the team of Atölye20 in Istanbul. Yaycıoğlu describes “Critical Imagination” as a historian of time and space liberating himself from the confines of these phenomena by using the possibilities of the art of painting to reimagine. Yaycıoğlu began his artistic journey at a young age in the studios of Eşref Üren and Osman Zeki Oral. Simultaneously, he learned technical drawing in the fields of construction engineering and architecture, following his father’s profession. Having participated in several group exhibitions in Turkey and Europe, Yaycıoğlu, during his time in Istanbul, not only engages in painting activities under the auspices of Atölye20 but also conducts seminars on Art, Spatiality, and History. Additionally, Ali Yaycıoğlu contributes weekly writings to Gazete Oksijen and shares a visual work with readers every week.
