The iron sculpture workshop, led by sculptor Sevgi Karay, is conducted with the supervision of workshop assistants. At the beginning of the workshop, we discuss the studio, materials, and shaping techniques. We provide participants with information on tool usage and safety in metal sculpture before starting the production, and we support the projects to be completed safely throughout the entire process.
In the initial lessons, forging, welding, and hot bending methods are explained. Subsequently, the techniques are applied together with the projects included in the program. Eventually, the best technique is selected and implemented according to the project.
After completing projects that encompass all the techniques within the program, we collaborate to bring your envisioned sculpture to life. We guide you through all stages, from the planning phase to the realization with iron material.
After reaching a certain level by participating in Atölye20 Sculpture Workshops, we provide support and guidance for your participation in personal or group exhibitions.

Sevgi Karay, one of the founders of Atölye20 Meeting Point, was born in Germany in 1965. She completed her primary, middle, and high school education in Adana, and then studied at Mimar Sinan University-Fine Arts Academy, Sculpture Department, from 1986 to 1991. She held her first solo exhibition in 1993 at Artisan Sanat Gallery. Between 1999 and 2001, she taught material courses at Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Academy, Stage Image, and Theater Department. In 1992, she and her husband Hayri Karay founded their workshops under the name Karay Decoration. Here, they continue both sculpture work and the production of decorative objects and architectural decoration elements designed by Sevgi Karay. Additionally, since 2016, she has been providing sculpture education at Atölye20.
